Motorbiking at the Bolaven Plateau
At the Bolaven Plateau we have different roads with different difficulty levels, from very easy to, specialy in the rainy seison, the highway to hell.
The Bolaven Plateau is a crater in an ancient Volcano with a diameter from over 40 kms.
Surrounded by 'mountains' the Bolaven Plateau is a green oase with his own micro climate, a lot of jungle, coffee plantations and waterfalls makes a trip on a motorbike or bicycle one of your highlites in Laos. Because of the altitude of over 1300 meters it can be cool. :)
Road Conditions:
The road Pakse, Paksong, Ta Theng, Ban Beng , Km 21-Tat Lo-Salavan (the short loop) is perfect plaved and good the whole year round, its easy to go and the landscape (as everywhere in the South of Laos) is great! (from Tatheng is also a plaved road to Sekong and Attapeu.)
The road between Paksong and Attapeu is planned to be paved in 2014, until that moment its during the rainy seison very bad, or when you like to make slidings and you have you'r own first aid kit with you the perfect place to exercise a lot...
Road #18, between Attapeu and Champasak doesnt exist.... there is a path with in the dry seison 6 rivercrossings, in the rainy seison its a no go, also for locals.
